1987 GMC Sierra Classic 4x4 5.7 Liter!

1987 GMC Sierra Classic, 4x4, 5.7 Liter, SWB, collector truck 100% original.  This example here will certainly be at the top of the food chain on 80s collector pickups.  Just turning 25 years old as of this write up, this Sierra Classic has finally become the classic it was lovingly cherished all these years for.  Loaded with every option you can think of... Power windows, Power door locks, Cruise, ETR Stereo!, Gauges, Dual Tanks, 4 Wheel Drive!, 5.7 Liter EFI, 3.08 Positrac, and much more.  A photo of the RPO codes is below.  If you decode this one, you will see!  The color is not exactly a bad combo either.

As you probably know already, 1987 is also the ONLY year the 5.7 was available in this body style SWB truck and 87 is the last year for the 3rd generation pickup, making the combo of the SWB 3rd Gen with a 350 and 4x4 one of the more sought after, if not the most sought after pickup from the 80s.  The 5.7 represented the the first year for the better power with the newer EFI that carried on to the 4th Generation trucks.  A stout reliable motor that many see 300K miles from.

What is more important about this truck is the fact it is 100% original.  This means, everything.  Not the lightly thrown around version of "original" that is used everywhere... Real original!   It was purchased new in 1987 and put away as a collector and used sparingly over the past 25 years to things like car shows, etc,  That has been its entire life.  Paint and body are way above what you would expect on a factory 25 year factory paint.  It has been so well cared for all its life, it really is probably as good, if not a higher detail level that it was the day it was made.  Everything is right and it shows as well as these photos in person.  Little things you really wont see on any other truck of this era like all 4 headlamps are the originals, all 4 matching as new, trim is perfect, marker lamps, emblems, everything original and looking as day 1.  Inside, it really is as new.  Period.  Under the hood, all belts and hoses are the day one originals and in perfect shape.  This is a pretty good indication of the condition of this truck.  Nothing has been detailed or doctored up under the hood.  No can-o-spray-paint in other words.   Underside, NOTHING has been spray painted as you see most every truck done, everything is original down to the entire exhaust system, tail pipes, muffler, everything.  Shocks are original too.  The only item not original under the hood is the R4 AC compressor.  Go figure as those are junk even with .01 miles.  It is however new now and is still R12 and exact match to original.  Works as new.  The tires are not what you would expect to be original, and they are not what was put on at they assy line when the truck was built... However, they are as old as the truck and are what was put on when it was new.   Try and find them they are upsized Goodyear 31x11.50s with the exact miles the truck has on them.  They have not been built in years.  They are the best look and size for one of these stock trucks.

Pictures should tell the rest of the story on this one.   It is 100% original.  It is generally the most desirable and collected pickup from the 80s.  It is 100% perfect.  It is everything you could ever ask for in one of these 3rd gen pickups, thus you see it in my collection!

The ETR Digital stereo with auto reverse cassette.  An expensive option in these trucks and a decent radio even today.
